Using Templates and Macros

Templates and macros help you write reports faster by pre-filling common content.

When you create a new report, Bormell automatically selects a template based on:

  1. Procedure code (primary match)
  2. Modality (fallback match)
  3. Reporting language (your language preference)

You can also manually choose a template from the Template dropdown in the toolbar.

Templates can contain merge fields that automatically fill in patient and study data:

  • {{PATIENT_NAME}}, {{PATIENT_MRN}}, {{PATIENT_DOB}}
  • {{EXAM_DATE}}, {{MODALITY}}, {{ACCESSION_NUMBER}}
  • {{STUDY_DESCRIPTION}}, {{REFERRING_PHYSICIAN}}

These are replaced with actual values when the template is applied.

Macros are text shortcuts you can type directly in the editor.

  1. Type / followed by the macro name (e.g., /normal)
  2. The macro text expands inline

Macros are filtered by modality and language, so you’ll only see relevant shortcuts. Manage your macros from the Macro Manager panel in the editor sidebar.
